What, Why and How
Bladder can also develop infection by the growth of a bacteria called ‘cystitis’. Bladder infection is one of the most common infections among people. These could become dreadful with time if they are not seriously treated. Therefore, pay a visit to Family Urgent Care for proper treatment. Bladder infection has two categories:
Simple bladder infections:
The major reason for simple bacterial infection is migration of bacteria in the bladder. Women are suspected of more of this infection due to the anatomy of their urinary system.
Complicated bladder infection:
As the name suggests, it arises due to abnormalities in the urinary system which occurs mostly in males. The longer male urethra has the largest chances to adopt complicated bladder infection. Every bladder infection associated with the males are said to be complicated.
Symptoms of bladder infection

The frequency of urination as compared to normal days increases. Not only this, but you may feel the need to pass urine every now and then but the quantity passed is always small.
Irritation, discomfort, and burning while passing the urine becomes common.
A continuous lower abdominal pain is observed.
You might pass blood in the urine.
The smell of the urine is unpleasant and very strong as well.
How do we make a diagnosis?
A question most people are concerned with. Well, Family Urgent Care does not rely on a single test or just a few reports. Our doctors ask for the patient’s history, the symptoms, then a few tests like urine culture are conducted in order to analyze the type of bacteria. Doctors might ask for urine samples to observe the bacterial growth and the pus in the urine.
After making a complete analysis and finding out every report favoring bladder infection, our doctors prescribe proper antibiotic courses to wipe off the bacteria completely. Women who suffer from bladder infection are suggested preventive courses of antibiotics too.
How long would it take to treat?
Usually, after starting the antibiotics course, the patients get symptom free within 3 days and there is no sign of infection. But those suffering from Complicated Bladder Infection might not recover within 3 days and a longer period of recovery might be required.
